How to use it
- Enter the volume in cubic yards.
- Pick normal-weight, plain or lightweight concrete.
The formula
Weight = cubic feet × density
Normal-weight concrete ≈ 150 lb/ft³ ≈ 4,050 lb per cubic yard
Worked example
| Volume | 1 cubic yards |
| Concrete type | Normal-weight (150 lb/ft³) |
Result
| Weight | 4,050 lb |
| Short tons | 2.03 tons |
| Metric tonnes | 1.84 t |
| Weight per cubic yard | 4,050 lb/yd³ |
Tips before you order
- Fresh concrete is slightly heavier than cured concrete because it still holds all of its mix water.
- A half-ton pickup can't legally carry one cubic yard of concrete (about 2 tons).
